Philosophy of Education

My philosophy is based on the belief that education can connect people from all different walks of life. Providing students with the fundamental basics of life needed to not only sustain but empower them to make positive life decisions is paramount. To create a safe, student-centered learning environment:  To motivate the students to learn according to their personal learning style.

Small group discussions, and the use of rubrics will be utilized along with peer reviews, to assess if the students were able to comprehend and apply the material to the lessons. Quizzes, along with tests will serve as the primary source to evaluate if the students have reached a level of competency. Feedback questionnaires will be utilized to assist in developing lesson plans that aim to increase the students critical thinking skills. Aiming to promote a classroom that is free from harsh judgements, and presenting new material in ways that will appeal to the different learning styles, is considered beneficial to engage learners.

Deciding to further my education as a stepping stone in which to build a foundation for increased knowledge in my field.  Furthering my education is not only for career advancement but also provides a platform for learning new techniques to better reach the needs of my patients, and prospective students. Students will learn best when they are given the proper resources needed for them to be successful, not only in class but also in their future endeavors. I strive to make lasting connections with my students based on maintaining an approachable open door policy that allows them to feel comfortable enough to come to me with any questions or concerns.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are core values that will be portrayed in my teaching by, making sure that ALL the students are met with a structured environment that is  available for all races, ethnicity, religions, gender, sexual orientation, and socio/economic classes including physically/developmentally disabled individuals. To implement this, I will make a conscious effort to ensure that all scenarios and real world applications connect to the student’s background or demographic areas, to encourage a sense of community amongst the class.  By bringing theory to practice, to life, and using real world examples.
